Internship - Public Health (Accepting Summer and Fall 2025 applications only)

Compensation: This is an unpaid position | Part-Time

Overview:

Bergen's Promise is the designated Care Management Organization (CMO) for Bergen County, New Jersey. We serve youth ages 5 to 21, with serious behavioral health challenges, substance abuse issues and developmental disabilities. Youth with chronic co-occurring behavioral and specific medical health issues will also be served through an enhanced medical care coordination component, the Behavioral Health Home (BHH). The goal of BHH is the joint coordination of health promotion with behavioral health care management. Public health interns will work within the BHH department to help realize this goal.

This internship experience is available for junior and senior undergraduate students and graduate students in the following majors: Public Health, Health Education, or Health Administration

Responsibilities:

Intern will:

Develop health promotion materials to meet the needs of youths and families based on evidence-based theory and practices.

Shadow Health/Wellness Educators and/or BHH Nurses as they provide one-on-one health education services.

Assist in implementing community health education programs.

Identify community resources to address barriers to health and wellness.

Participate in Staff Wellness Committee initiatives.

Attend assigned agency and/or outside trainings.

Engage in additional opportunities, projects, training, etc. as identified as mutually beneficial.

Qualifications & Skills:

Students will:

Gain insight into working in the non-profit sector.

Gain hands-on experience in health and wellness education, promotion, and/or administration.
